In Georgia, divorce records may be obtained from the Clerk of the Superior Court in the County in which the divorce was granted. The state Vital Records office will only conduct a search to determine if a divorce occurred. The Vital Records Office cannot issue a record.
The details to be submitted to conduct a search and confirm if a divorce was granted are:
- Full name of the husband
- Full name of the wife
- Date of divorce
- Place of divorce
- Number of copies requested
The applicant must submit a signed request along with the required details and fee in order to get the confirmation. The Search fee is $10, and is non refundable. Fees may be paid by certified check or money order payable to Vital Records. Cash must not be sent along with the request.
